Worship at Piermont Reformed Church has the aim of celebrating and sharing God's love. God speaks to us as we listen to and meditate on what God says through the Bible. We enter into a conversation with God through prayer and hymns of praise. And we experience God's love in the care and concern we show each other. Worship here means warmth and welcome. Our worship takes its form from the Reformed and Presbyterian traditions, and offers much that is familiar to anyone acquainted with mainline Protestant churches, or to a lesser extent, Catholic liturgy. Most of our congregational singing uses the ecumenical edition of the Presbyterian hymnal. But we will often break from tradition with the use of jazz or contemporary music, employing sax, flute, guitar or drums to give expression to our praise! Similarly, the pastor's sermon is the mainstay of our meditation, but one should not be greatly surprised to find it replaced, all or in part, by a period of open discussion or silent meditation! Families with children feel welcome and comfortable at our services. The kids have their own special time with our pastor before they go to Sunday School or child care. Children take center stage at our Christmas pageant and on Children's Day in June. Many visitors have special questions about Sacraments in the Reformed Church. Read on!
